An Overview of the Project Director Role
You will provide senior-level management with all project delivery phases from inception to
completion and be responsible for successfully delivering the entire project. You will be
the lead contact between the internal and external delivery team members, working in
collaboration with the Operations Director to ensure that the desired project objectives are
achieved and the proactive engagement with the client.
This is a senior leadership position that requires a professional proactive approach,
leading by example in your management style, being able to motivate a high-performing team,
and being able to manage complex relationships at all levels. You must have the skills
required to direct meetings, introduce discussion to encourage thinking in a commercial
context, communicate effectively with purpose be able to manage complex and technical
projects, and most importantly have a demonstrable successful track record of experience.
The main responsibilities of this role

Works with the Project Management Team to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the
delivery phases of the project, ultimately ensuring that the project can meet or exceed
goals established in the programs.
- Lead and collaborate with the PMT, (Project Management Team) on all site activities to
ensure objectives are accomplished within the project time frame and budget parameters.
- Assess and review the project’s Key Performance Indicators to determine the accurate
status of the project, make decisions for allocating resources, and assign staff
requirements to maintain the project on target.
- Promotes technical excellence on the project managing the project delivery with all
internal and external stakeholder teams, including subcontractors.
- Proactively manage the client relationship, manage changes to the project, and lead on
managing approval on all changes before proceeding with changes in the parameters.
- Prepare reports for corrective action plans if the project is behind schedule or over
budget, and present solutions to the Operations Director and Managing Director for the
plan for recovery. Review status reports prepared by PMT Managers and ensure that the
overall big picture aligns with the entire project plan.
- Collaborate and manage the project team members to provide mentoring, guidance, and
advice and resolve problems ensuring a proactive and collaborative work environment.
Ensuring all PMT teams have effective resources and perform with expected efficiency and
productivity.
- Oversees establishment of the Work Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Plan, and other
processes to ensure the highest level of safety is practised in a safe work environment
with a proactive and motivated team.
- Completes other responsibilities associated with the position as may be appropriate.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to demonstrate.
- Advanced knowledge of construction management processes and sustainable technologies
- Expert knowledge of building products, construction methodology, and relevant rules,
regulations, and quality standards
- Understanding all facets of the construction process including detailed technical
knowledge
- Familiarity with construction management software packages
- Ability to plan and see the “big picture” with proven leadership ability, excellent
communication skills, and demonstrable interpersonal and social skills.
- A minimum of 20 years of experience in civil construction specifically with high-rise,
industrial, commercial, and residential building works with relevant GCC management
experience.
- Have managed and been responsible for major construction of multimillions AED value
projects.
- A bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineer or Engineering
equivalent
- A master's or MBA would be advantageous.
